Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez strongly rejected the United States' attack on Venezuela and warned Donald Trump regarding his claims over Greenland, during a press conference on Tuesday following the Ukraine summit.

Sánchez described the military action by the United States in Caracas as "a terrible and very dangerous precedent." He emphasized that while Spain does not recognize the legitimacy of the Maduro government, it does not accept an action whose sole objective appears to be "changing an executive to appropriate its natural resources."

Regarding the Venezuelan crisis, the Spanish Prime Minister defended the sovereignty of the people and offered Spain as a mediator in the conflict. He expressed his willingness to meet with both the new Venezuelan president, Delcy Rodríguez, and the opposition leader, Edmundo González. Furthermore, he condemned Trump's ambitions regarding Greenland, assuring that Spain "will not be silent" and will continue to support its allies, referring to Denmark.

"We cannot accept that the territorial integrity of a European state like Denmark is threatened."

The statements were made after the meeting of the "coalition of volunteers" in Paris, where 35 countries participated to define security guarantees for Ukraine. Sánchez opened the door for Spanish military personnel to participate in a hypothetical peace mission on Ukrainian territory, arguing that if it has been done in other latitudes, it must be done in Europe. He highlighted that the meeting allowed the establishment of a framework of guarantees and a prosperity package for the reconstruction of Ukraine once peace is achieved.
