The 18th edition of the Gaudí Awards takes place on Sunday, February 8, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, with Carla Simón's film Romería leading the nominations.

The gala, which reaches its majority of age (18th edition), will begin at 9:30 PM and will be broadcast by TV3 and 3Cat. The event, which hosts 1,800 guests, celebrates the magnificent moment currently experienced by Catalan cinema, according to the Acadèmia del Cinema Català.
The big favorite of the night is Romería, directed by Carla Simón, with a total of 13 nominations. It is closely followed by Sirat, with 12 mentions, the film by Óliver Laxe which is also vying for the Oscar for Best International Feature. Sorda, the debut feature by Eva Libertad, aspires to 10 statuettes.

"I am nervous about not messing up when opening the envelope today. I liked Frontera, Sorda... the level is very high, but I won't say who I voted for."

Marcel Barrena · Film Director
The gala will be presented by five women, including Nora Navas, Laura Weissmahr, Maria Arnal, Maria Molins, and Carla Quílez. Nora Navas is particularly noteworthy as she is also nominated for best leading actress for Mi amiga Eva, and already holds two previous Gaudí Awards for Pa negre and Todos queremos lo mejor para ella.
