Sant Andreu on the Verge of Promotion to Primera Federación After Eighteen Years

The 'quadribarrat' team needs a victory against Valencia Mestalla to be crowned champions and return to the third tier of Spanish football.

Sant Andreu is on the brink of promotion to Primera Federación, the third tier of Spanish football, a milestone they could achieve this Sunday with a victory against Valencia Mestalla.

The team, led by Natxo González, has the opportunity to mathematically secure the championship if they win their match scheduled for 6 PM. This would not be the first time the 'quadribarrats' reach this division, as their last promotion occurred eighteen years ago.
The previous promotion, which took them to the former Segunda B, is remembered for a decisive victory against Arandina. On that occasion, the presence of flares at Narcís Sala created an intense atmosphere that symbolized Sant Andreu's superiority. The then-president, Joan Gaspart, witnessed a memorable match from the executive box.
The goals that sealed that promotion were scored by Eloi Fontanella, with a 1-0 and a 2-0, and by Manu Lanzarote, another prominent Sant Andreu player, who scored the decisive 3-0.
Interestingly, Natxo González, the current coach, was already part of the Sant Andreu squad in the 2007/08 season. The Basque coach could achieve his second promotion with the club, this time from the dugout. Eighteen years ago, he celebrated the success with his family, including his son, who is now an adult.
During that celebration, a curious fact was recalled: a painting by Salvador Dalí from 1977, valued at four million pesetas (about 25,000 euros today), which at the time was crucial in saving the club from financial ruin.
