Three months after the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Darling Menjadi in Riera Blanca, Sants, the case continues in the judicial instruction phase.

The death of Darling Menjadi occurred on the night of September 8, close to the Santa Eulàlia metro station. In October, the Mossos d’Esquadra arrested five people aged between 16 and 20 allegedly involved in the events.
Of those arrested, two adults are in provisional prison and the minors are held in a juvenile center. The lawyer from Vosseler Advocats, Daniel Salvador, representing the family, confirmed that the police report completely rules out any connection between the events and violent youth groups or Latin gangs.

"Darling was murdered; his death was premeditated."

The victim's stepfather, Alberto Ramos, reiterated that the motive for the crime was not robbery, as the young man was carrying a new mobile phone that was found in his pocket when the ambulance arrived. The family expresses their deep distress over the uncertainty of the motive behind the aggression.

"Our son was not carrying a scooter and had a new mobile phone in his pocket that was still there when the ambulance picked him up. It was not a robbery. And what affects the family most is the uncertainty of not knowing why; what is the reason for this gratuitous act of violence."

Alberto Ramos · Victim's Stepfather
The family's lawyer rules out a trial date before 2026, as the instruction phase could last up to a year and a half. Nevertheless, they remain optimistic about the possibility of proving the premeditation of the murder.
