FGC unveils the giant figure Catenària, a 3.5-meter train driver, in Sarrià

The new figure, created by Jordi Grau, accompanies the Trenot giant and seeks to highlight female role models in technical professions.

The Colla Gegantera de Sarrià and Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) unveiled the giant figure Catenària, representing a female train driver, during the Sarrià Major Festival at the District Headquarters.

The giant figure Catenària, which can now be visited at the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi District Headquarters, is the work of Jordi Grau, from the Taller Drac Petit de Terrassa workshop. The figure wears the current FGC uniform, and its name was chosen through a vote among the company's employees.
During the presentation, FGC President Carles Ruiz Novella emphasized the importance of this addition in promoting equality and breaking down the masculinization of certain professions.

"Catenària will allow children throughout Catalunya to see from an early age that a woman can also be a train driver."

Standing 3.5 meters tall, Catenària holds the key used to open the train cabin. This new giant accompanies Trenot, the giant representing a station agent (also by Jordi Grau, 2004), whose costume was also renewed for the occasion.
Both giants will be guarded by the Colla Gegantera de Sarrià and will participate in festivals and parades across Catalunya. At the District Headquarters, visitors can also see other festive elements like Gervasi and Laieta, and the giant figure Normag, the first giant in Catalunya with an intellectual disability.
