The Department of Territory has allocated nearly 243,000 euros in grants to the regional councils of Berguedà, Cerdanya, Alt Urgell, and Solsonès to improve the network of unpaved mountain paths.

This allocation is part of a broader aid package from the Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, totaling nearly 585,000 euros for all mountain regions and the Aran Valley. The main objective is to ensure the conservation of these paths, which are vital for local mobility, tourism, and sports use of the natural environment.
Among the four central regions, Alt Urgell received the highest allocation with 81,203 euros, followed by Berguedà (67,769 euros), Solsonès (53,391 euros), and Cerdanya (40,500 euros). These funds are channeled through the regional councils, which manage the actions on behalf of the municipal governments that own the paths.
The subsidized actions cover a wide range of tasks, including clearing vegetation, restoring dry stone walls, reviewing signage, and maintaining railings or footbridges. These works can be carried out between September 16, 2024, and September 15, 2025.
This line of aid is framed within the proximity mobility policy promoted by the Directorate General of Mountain Policies, recognizing that in regions of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, the conservation of the unpaved path network is basic infrastructure for hikers, farmers, and residents.
