The Berguedà region has launched the fifth edition of Wise Voices, Young Glances, a key intergenerational program. This initiative is jointly promoted by the Regional Council and the Guillem de Berguedà Institute with the main goal of combating ageism and reducing social isolation.
A total of 13 pairs have been formed in this edition. The young participants are students from 2nd year APD (Attention to Dependent Persons) and 1st year Social Integration. The elderly participants come from various municipalities and residential centers in Berguedà. The meetings, focused on conversation and listening, will be weekly, totaling seven sessions.
The objective is to reduce social isolation and promote bonds between elderly people and youth in the region.
The inaugural session was held on Friday, January 16 and included the participation of the Regional Councilor for Social Rights, Sílvia Triola. The exhibition Ageism Zero was also visited, used as an awareness tool. The program is coordinated by Anna Armengou, tutors Anna Baró and Anna Coma, and the regional aging technician. The closing event is scheduled for March 13.
