The companies Verbund and E-Storagy presented a series of economic compensations this March in Vilada and la Nou to secure local backing ahead of upcoming public consultations.

The incentive package features a 40% discount on electricity bills for residents of Cercs, la Nou, and Vilada. This measure will be funded by the developers and managed through a utility provider to ensure universal application for all registered inhabitants.

"The project is still in a very preliminary stage and the permits must be granted by the Generalitat and the central government, not the town councils."

In Vilada, the plan includes transforming the fonda Bellavista into social housing, while in Cercs, the companies will fund the demolition of the old thermal power plant. La Nou will see improvements in its water supply system and street paving as part of the 6 million euro infrastructure budget.
Additional benefits include 45 scholarships for local students and a free taxi service to Berga. Despite these offers, local environmental groups in Berguedà are actively campaigning for a 'no' vote in the referendum scheduled for March 28th.
