The mayors of Berguedà, meeting in Cercs on Tuesday, February 5, 2026, approved the regional budget and agreed to request urgent measures from the Catalan Traffic Service to reduce accident rates on the C-16 road.

The Berguedà Regional Council presented the budget forecast for 2026, which amounts to 23 million euros in revenue and 22.9 million in expenses. These figures represent an increase of 3.78% compared to the previous year's budget, with the main objective of strengthening essential services and improving the internal organization of the body.
The document plans to allocate more resources to key areas such as waste management, sewage treatment plants, and personal care services, in addition to consolidating new staff positions. The working lines of the new local development territorial agreement were also addressed, promoting a more cooperative and municipalist model, with a relevant role for the Berguedà Development Agency.

Municipal representatives agreed to draft a joint statement demanding that the Catalan Traffic Service implement urgent measures to improve road safety on the C-16 stretch, due to growing concern over the increase in accidents.

Another highlight was the presentation, by the Generalitat de Catalunya, of the main elements of the preliminary draft of the High Mountain Law. This regulation seeks to address vulnerabilities derived from climate change and low population density, providing for the creation of the High Mountain Office and a more participatory governance model.
Finally, the regional Tourism Councilor, David Font, detailed the European program POCTEFA 2026-2029, which promotes cross-border cooperation. Berguedà participates with the Tramuntanya project, focused on the Pedraforca massif, with a budget of 1.8 million euros co-financed by FEDER funds.
