Mayors from across the Berguedà region met this Thursday in Gironella to demand that the Generalitat take immediate action to improve safety on the C-16 highway.

The local leaders, led by the President of the Regional Council, Moisès Masanas, expressed deep concern over the high accident rate on the stretch between Berga and Bagà. Last year, three people lost their lives in this specific section, including two young children in December.
Proposed solutions include installing New Jersey barriers, adding speed cameras, and modifying lane configurations near Cercs. The mayors emphasized that heavy weekend traffic is causing recurrent congestion, severely impacting the daily lives and safety of local residents.

"The C-16 cannot continue to be a collapsed and unsafe road."
