The Minister of Territori, Sílvia Paneque, presented in Bagà a new plan to expand the C-16 highway to Berga, a project initially funded by private capital to be built between 2027 and 2031.

The Government of Catalonia has accepted a private initiative proposal to complete the C-16 expansion in the Berguedà region. The project, budgeted between 470 and 500 million euros, will be initially financed by the winning bidder. The public administration will start payments for construction and maintenance five years after the concession begins.
The technical plan includes doubling the lanes from Berga to Cercs and implementing an innovative reversible lane system up to Bagà. Additionally, a new bike path will be built along the route, and a new northbound exit will be added in Cercs.
The official timeline sets the project presentation for this June, with bidding expected by late 2026. Construction is scheduled to begin in the autumn of 2027 and conclude by 2031.
