After detecting progressive deterioration in the trails, the Barcelona Provincial Council has conducted an exhaustive audit that has allowed for the inventory of nearly 2,000 signs. This diagnosis is the fundamental step to begin maintenance and modernization tasks for the routes.
The project, presented at the Sant Francesc de Berga convent, is funded through the European POCTEFA program. The main objective is to simplify current signage, often confusing due to the presence of multiple contradictory indicators, and to establish a unified maintenance model for the entire region.
“"Currently there are posts with multiple different signs to go to the same place."
The Berguedà Development Agency will be responsible for managing the execution of the work on the ground. According to sources from the regional body, the investment selection process will be carried out in consensus with the municipalities and local agents, ensuring that the actions respond to the real needs of the territory.
