The Pirineu Viu platform expressed its total rejection this Saturday of the C-16 highway expansion project between Berga and Bagà, warning of increased tourism pressure.

The organization believes that the proposal presented by the Minister of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition, Sílvia Paneque, does not address the real needs of Berguedà residents. According to the collective, the project is primarily designed to facilitate the flow of visitors from the Barcelona metropolitan area to the mountains.

"Expanding the capacity of the C-16 will not solve the underlying problem, but will reinforce it, with more cars and more tourism pressure."

Pirineu Viu criticizes that the planned 500 million euro investment is being allocated to infrastructure that, in their view, only benefits urban speculation. They propose that these resources be invested in improving connections between Pyrenean villages to foster a more resilient economy.
