The PSC municipal group in Berga has proposed closing the city's south and central entrances on Friday afternoons to prevent the collapse caused by traffic bypassing C-16 congestion.

Traffic circulation through Berga on Friday afternoons systematically becomes chaotic due to the exponential increase in traffic heading towards Cerdanya and the Pyrenees. This flow causes navigation systems to suggest that drivers stuck on the C-16 enter the city center to skip queues.
The PSC believes rapid action is necessary and has proposed the immediate closure of the south and central entrances. Thus, during peak northbound traffic, the only permitted access to Berga would be via the north entrance (hospital area), preventing drivers from taking shortcuts.

Berga cannot continue to structurally assume this collapse. The chaos directly affects the safety, mobility, and quality of life of the residents.

The socialists will defend this idea, which they describe as a “brave and immediate” decision, during the February Plenary Session held this Friday at the Berga City Council. The municipal group warns that the problem is not new and requires clear short-term measures.
