The Puig-reig Town Council inaugurated on Saturday, February 28th, the first 400-meter athletics track in the Berguedà region, marking a milestone for local sports infrastructure.

The project, which cost 414,000 euros, includes a main track made of compacted earth, a 500-meter warm-up circuit, and a central football pitch. The facility is located in the area traditionally used for the local horse racing event known as La Corrida.

"Your zip code should not determine your sporting ceiling."

Abel Garcia · General Secretary of Sport
Mayor Eva Serra emphasized that the track is a symbol of community values and healthy living. Future phases of the project will add lighting, shaded areas, and artificial turf to the central field to complete the regional sports hub.
