The decision follows the announcement by Minister Òscar Ordeig of a common front by the Catalan Government against the EU-Mercosur agreement.

Farmers decided to open access to the Port of Tarragona via the A-27 on Monday morning, after four nights of protest, while maintaining blockades on key roads such as the C-16 in Berguedà.

The decision to lift the protest in Tarragona was made after the Catalan Government, through the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food, Òscar Ordeig, announced a commitment to create a common front against the agreement between the European Union and Mercosur. Farmers opened one entry and exit lane while clearing the effects of the mobilization.

"Ours is an agricultural, livestock, and fishing country, and we will defend it so that in the coming years and decades we continue to be a benchmark country. We will allocate all necessary resources so that no young person has to quit due to lack of viability."

Despite the Government's gesture, farmers demand concrete actions beyond verbal commitments. Therefore, they maintain blockades on the AP-7 between Borrassà and Alt Empordà and Pla de l'Estany, the C-16 in Berguedà, the N-II in Alt Empordà, and the C-38 at Coll d'Ares.
The demonstrators have requested a meeting with the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, which could be scheduled today. Minister Ordeig announced an extraordinary meeting this week with all agricultural organizations to define a common position and defend it before the Ministry and the European Union.
