The Cerdanya County Council and the company Veolia have signed the renewal of the solidarity fund to allocate 7,000 euros to guarantee water access for vulnerable households in the region this year.

The renewal of the agreement, recently signed at the headquarters of the Consell Comarcal de la Cerdanya, ensures that no household in municipalities like Puigcerdà, Llívia, or Prullans is left without supply due to economic reasons. The institution's president, Isidre Chia, and Veolia's director in the Pyrenees, Albert Estival, participated in the signing.

"This solidarity fund is a key tool to guarantee a basic right such as access to water for all people in the region."

Isidre Chia · President of the Cerdanya County Council
This initiative is aimed at individuals who, according to the social services' residential exclusion risk report, cannot cover the expenses. In addition to the fund, Veolia offers the social tariff, a bonus for families with all members unemployed or receiving minimum pensions.

"Behind every aid there are people and families going through moments of vulnerability who need to feel supported."

Cristina Rotellà · Councillor for Welfare and Social Action
The company also facilitates interest-free payment commitments for households that, although not considered vulnerable by social services, face temporary difficulties in paying the bill. This collaboration highlights the commitment of public administrations and companies to social welfare.
