This issue, which extends throughout the Alt Pirineu, directly impacts the tourism and leisure activities sector. According to industry data, school tourism can account for up to 60% of total revenue, potentially jeopardizing between 1,000 and 1,500 direct jobs in the area.
The ripple effect extends to coach companies, restaurants, tourist accommodations, and complementary activities such as horse riding, skiing, and adventure sports, all of which are suffering the consequences of this situation.
“"We understand the core of the teachers' demands, but we ask that agreements be reached to avoid collateral effects."
The association has been in contact with the Department of Education and the Department of Business and Labor to convey their concerns. They warn that, if a solution is not found, many businesses will be forced to explore new markets.
Despite this, school tourism remains a fundamental pillar for maintaining activity during weekdays and for promoting the deseasonalization of employment in the area.
