The Cerdanya Hiking Group (GREC) is celebrating its 30th anniversary this March in Puigcerdà, marking three decades since its foundation in 1996 by local mountain enthusiasts.

Currently boasting over 200 members, the club is prioritizing the recruitment of younger generations and new residents. Their new Friday walks, featuring easy routes under 10 kilometers, have become a popular gateway for those looking to explore the Pyrenees at a gentler pace.

"We need to reach the new generations. There are young families and second-home owners interested in the mountains who don't know us yet."

Manel Figuera · GREC Secretary
The association also promotes mountain safety through seminars and collaborates with local institutions such as the Kilian Jornet Foundation and the Puigcerdà Town Council to foster community engagement.
