The Cerdanya Hospital EGTC has been honored with the special health mention at the 25th Prix Pyrénées awards in February 2026 for its role in international cooperation.

Located in Puigcerdà, this facility is the first cross-border hospital in Europe. It provides integrated healthcare services to the populations of Cerdanya and Capcir, managing resources through a unique legal framework that ensures coordinated care across the France-Spain border.
General Director Dr. Xavier Conill and Deputy Director Grégory Guibert accepted the award, emphasizing that the project demonstrates how Europe can be built from local territories through institutional trust and public service goals.

"This hospital is the demonstration that Europe is built from the territories, with institutional trust and with a shared goal of public service."
