On Friday, March 6th, historian Laura de Castellet delivered a lecture at the Cerdanya County Archive in Puigcerdà regarding the region's period under the Kingdom of Majorca.

The talk, titled Quan érem Mallorca (When we were Majorca), explored the years between 1276 and 1343. During this era, Cerdanya and Roussillon were key territories of a kingdom that held geopolitical significance similar to the republics of Venice or Genoa.
Castellet emphasized that Puigcerdà was the fifth largest city in Catalonia at the time. Its prominence was driven by a robust wool processing industry, which served as the backbone of the local medieval economy.
Organized by the Cerdanya County Council and the Cerdanya Research Group, the event is part of the Explica'm una història series, aimed at bringing local history to the general public.
