The project involved paving Carrer Major and Carrer Puigpedrós, adapting Plaça Major with new furniture, and creating new parking spaces. According to Mayor Ramon Chia, approximately 18 new parking spots have been created by relocating the waste containers to optimize space.
The total cost of the works amounted to 140,000 euros. Of this sum, 80,000 euros were financed by the Diputació de Girona (Girona Provincial Council), with the remainder covered by the municipal budget.
The council emphasizes the importance of participatory processes with residents to define projects. The mayor highlighted that decisions regarding Plaça Major and other actions, such as the renovation of the rectory in Urtx, are made jointly with citizens, who are the primary beneficiaries of tax investments.
Other ongoing projects include the renovation of the old town hall section, the creation of two new social housing units in Queixans, and the refurbishment of Carrer del Torrent d’Urtx.
