AEMET has activated danger warnings in fourteen provinces across the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands due to the arrival of a front bringing intense cold, snowfall, and rough seas this Friday, with temperatures dropping to -6 °C in Cerdanya.

The passage of an atmospheric front across the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands this Friday will cause a significant drop in temperatures and precipitation, forcing the activation of alerts in 14 provinces. In Catalonia, the yellow warning is due to cold, with forecasts indicating thermometers will drop to -6 °C in Cerdanya.
In addition to the extreme cold, significant snow accumulations are expected in mountainous areas of the northern half. The snow line will initially be between 1,000 and 1,400 meters in the northwest, potentially dropping to 800 meters in the northwest quadrant. In Castilla y León, provinces such as Ávila, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, and Zamora are under a yellow warning for accumulations of 5 centimeters in 24 hours.

Precipitation will be more abundant on the southern Atlantic slope, Galicia, and the central Pyrenees, with the possibility of being strong and persistent.

Rough seas will also be a significant risk factor. Cantabria, Asturias, Guipúzcoa, and Vizcaya will be under a yellow warning for high waves, while the level will be raised to orange (significant risk) in the Galician provinces of A Coruña, Lugo, and Pontevedra. The Canary Islands will also be affected by the weakening front, with rain expected in the north of the islands.
