Around 300 people took to the streets this February 11 in La Seu d'Urgell and Puigcerdà as part of a regional teachers' strike.

The educational community in the Pyrenees is demanding an increase in funding, noting that current spending is only 2.2% of GDP, far below the legal requirement of 6%. Protesters highlighted the lack of staff in mountain areas.

"We are mobilizing due to a generalized lack of resources and constant underfunding of public schools."

In Puigcerdà, the focus was on the Llums del Nord school, which has operated out of temporary prefabricated units for 18 years. Unions such as CCOO are calling for the immediate start of construction on the planned permanent facility.
The strike action is expected to escalate, with unions announcing a full week of protests scheduled from March 16 to March 20.
