The Puigcerdà municipal Government is reviewing the current blue zone model to design a new proposal prioritizing free parking for residents, expected to be completed within two months.

The Puigcerdà City Council has a plan on the table to renew parking management in the town, focusing on facilitating free parking for residents. This proposal, still under study, could include the creation of green zones reserved exclusively for the neighborhood, an option previously considered in the former mandate.
Councilor Cristina Deulofeu explained that the review of the previous project showed a significant increase in blue zones within the urban core, which reduced free options for residents. This analysis led the council to reconsider whether the previous model met the real needs of the population.

The model seeks to analyze the potential revenue from comprehensive management of municipal parking lots and regulated zones, in relation to the expenses generated by this system.

Currently, the municipal government does not have a definitive project, but the new proposal is expected to be ready within approximately two months. The creation of green zones is being considered in streets with a high presence of residents without their own parking space, ensuring neighborhood parking through joint management with the concessionaire company.
Once the economic study is finalized—a part considered key and undefined in the previous proposal—the government plans to open the political debate with the other groups. Francesc Armengol, an opposition councilor who worked on the previous project, has already offered his collaboration to the governing team.
