The director of the ICPS, Oriol Bartomeus, presented the study results, noting that the historical trend where children were more progressive than their parents has reversed. Right-wing positioning has increased by more than 20% among men under 35 and 17% among women under 25 over the last five years. This trend is no longer limited only to the youngest but is expanding among men aged 25 to 34.
“"Since those born in 1986, each generation is more right-wing than the previous one."
Regarding immigration, opinion has worsened drastically. The number of Catalans favoring limiting the entry of immigrants has risen from 44% in 2023 to 63.7% in the latest poll. This increase is cross-party, as support for restricting the arrival of foreigners has grown among voters of all parties. Currently, 100% of Aliança Catalana voters, 90% of Vox voters, around 80% of PP or Junts voters, and between 50% and 60% of PSC and ERC voters support this measure.
The 2025 survey also shows a general retreat in support for feminism. 59% of participants agree with the concept, a figure that has decreased from 67% recorded in 2023. The gender gap is evident among young people: less than 50% of men under 35 believe women are more discriminated against than men, while this percentage exceeds 75% for women in the same age group.
Regarding the territorial issue, 55.6% of respondents want Catalonia to remain part of Spain, compared to 38.1% who prefer independence, figures similar to those recorded in 2011. In the valuation of leaders, Salvador Illa (PSC) remains the preferred president for over 20% of the sample. There is a retreat in preference for Carles Puigdemont (Junts), dropping from 14.5% in 2024 to 10.2% in 2025, while Sílvia Orriols (Aliança Catalana) emerges with 8.8% preference.
