The Guardia Civil dismantled an illegal armory workshop in Puigcerdà, Cerdanya, following an investigation initiated last December into unauthorized weapons repair and restoration activities.

The Guardia Civil has issued an administrative infringement notice against the person responsible for a clandestine workshop in Puigcerdà, who was operating an armory business without any administrative authorization. This practice, which had allegedly been developing in secret for years, was uncovered following a complaint received last December by the Girona Arms and Explosives Intervention Unit.
The starting point of the operation was the denial of a circulation permit requested from Huelva to send a long gun. It was discovered that the destination address in Puigcerdà was not a professional workshop, but a private residence. Subsequently, digital investigation allowed the location of several profiles of the investigated individual on the internet, where he published photographs and videos of manipulated long guns.

The lack of adequate security measures in the workshop increased the risk that the manipulated weapons could fall into the wrong hands.

The illegal armorer had previously consulted the Guardia Civil about the legal requirements, being aware that he was committing an infraction by continuing with the repair and restoration of firearms without the corresponding license. To conceal the illegality, he used temporary ownership transfers to justify the possession of his clients' weapons.
The workshop was located in an isolated warehouse on the outskirts of Puigcerdà, equipped with machinery typical of the armory activity, but completely lacking the minimum security measures required by law. Clients, who paid for the services without doubting the man's professionalism, confirmed that they delivered complete weapons, including long guns, unaware that they were committing an infraction.
