The northern storm hit the Cerdanya region hard, accumulating about 20 centimeters of snow in the urban center of Puigcerdà during the early morning of January 10.

The northern storm currently affecting the Pyrenees has caused significant snowfall in the lower Cerdanya valley. In Puigcerdà, snow depths reached about 20 centimeters early in the morning, a notable figure for the urban area, covering streets, squares, and public spaces.
The snowfall began overnight and continued until dawn, with the snow line clearly situated below 1,200 meters. The influx of northern winds favored persistent precipitation, especially in the eastern part of the region. Conversely, in the western area of Cerdanya, around Bellver and Martinet, accumulated depths were significantly lower.

The Puigcerdà City Council has prioritized clearing access to key facilities such as the Cerdanya Hospital and educational centers.

In response, the Puigcerdà City Council activated its winter road safety protocol early in the morning, focusing on street clearing and salt spreading. Significant accumulations were also reported in nearby municipalities including Bolvir, Guils de Cerdanya, and Fontanals.
Regarding mobility, no serious incidents were reported, although drivers were advised to exercise extreme caution. The use of chains or winter tires was recommended on secondary roads, and some mountain passes, such as the collada de Toses, experienced temporary disruptions. Forecasts suggest the storm may continue for the next few hours, increasing the risk of ice patches forming on the roadways overnight.
