The municipality of Puigcerdà is preparing to host one of the most deeply rooted and multitudinous gastronomic events of the winter calendar. The Trinxat Festival, reaching its 29th edition, is expected to attract visitors from across the country, Andorra, and France.
More than just a popular dinner, the festival serves as a premier showcase for zero-kilometer products from the region. Highlights include winter cabbage, 'trumfes' (Cerdanya potatoes), artisan cheeses, and local cured meats, all essential for a menu that champions the authenticity of the Pyrenean pantry.
The star dish is the trinxat de Cerdanya, a preparation of humble origins but intense flavor, made from winter cabbage and mashed potatoes, bound with the juice of local pork rind.
The menu preparation will be handled by the Cuina Pirinenca de Cerdanya association, collaborating with various local restaurants, pastry chefs, and suppliers. After dinner, the evening will continue with live music and dancing provided by the Orquestra Montecarlo.
Tickets for the festival are priced at 36 euros and can be purchased starting Monday, February 9, at the Puigcerdà Tourist Office and the Campanar de Santa Maria. The event is organized by the Puigcerdà City Council, the Festivities Commission, and the Girona Provincial Council.
