This initiative, announced at a press conference with the participation of Francesc Roca, Secretary General of Vocational Training; Joan Canela, President of the Comarcal Council; and Núria Forn, Comarcal Councillor for Youth and Culture, represents a significant step forward for the region. The project initially plans for 15 places and a two-year duration, with a strong emphasis on dual vocational training, which will include over 500 hours of internships in local companies.
“"We have possibly reached a milestone we had been pursuing for many years. A region without business activity will hardly have a future."
Joan Canela highlighted the symbolic value of this achievement, the result of years of advocacy, and underscored the importance of collaboration between institutions and businesses to make it a reality. For her part, Núria Forn emphasized the joint effort that has driven the project, stating that the needs of the business sector and educational centers have been heard to defend the territory and the future of young people.
“"We have listened to the needs of companies and institutes to defend our territory and the future of our youth. So that young people can stay, grow, and live with quality in the region."
The Secretary General of Vocational Training, Francesc Roca, stressed the strategic potential of this cycle in the context of industrial transformation, creating opportunities for both young people and professionals needing to reskill. He noted that mechatronics is one of the specialties with the highest employment rate and praised the public-private collaboration that has made the project possible, anticipating the intention to evolve towards intensive dual training and to incorporate industry professionals as teaching staff.
This commitment is part of a broader strategy to adapt vocational training to the demands of the territory, consolidating the Conca de Barberà as a hub for industrial talent. With this new cycle, the region adds a second higher degree, complementing that of renewable energies, and opens a new chapter in its educational offerings.
