The Plenary of the Consell Comarcal de la Conca de Barberà gave the green light on April 27 to initiate the contracting process for reactivating high-level water supply works between the towns of Sarral and Forès. This action is fundamental to improving the quality and guarantee of supply to several municipalities in the region.
The project, part of Phase I of a global supply plan, includes the construction of the main pipeline between Sarral and Forès, as well as a branch leading to the municipal reservoir of Sarral. The works, which began in September 2024, are currently 50% complete but were halted last January due to non-compliance with scheduled deadlines.
With this new tender, the Consell Comarcal aims to resume work before summer and complete this strategic infrastructure. The base budget for the tender amounts to 3,115,405.32 euros (VAT included), with an estimated execution period of eight months.
The project includes the construction of main pipelines, pumping stations, and road and river crossings, as well as the installation of control systems and auxiliary infrastructure. Environmental management and safety measures have also been planned, reinforcing the comprehensive nature of the intervention. The contract processing has been declared urgent to accelerate the execution of this priority work, which is funded by the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), the Diputació de Tarragona, and the beneficiary municipalities.
