Representatives from the L'Espluga de Francolí City Council, Mossos d'Esquadra, and neighborhood associations met Friday to address concerns about insecurity and recent robberies in the municipality.

A meeting was held this Friday in L'Espluga de Francolí to analyze the security situation following recent robbery incidents that have caused anxiety among residents. The gathering included representatives from the council, the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan Police), municipal guards, and the neighborhood associations of Urbanització Carreras and Urbanització del Casal.
During the session, residents expressed their concern about the perception of insecurity and detailed specific robbery situations. In response, the Mossos d’Esquadra reported that, at the request of the City Council, police presence and patrolling have been reinforced in the area to prevent new incidents and improve the sense of security.
The L'Espluga de Francolí council also announced a long-term preventive measure: the installation of two new license plate readers in the municipality throughout 2026. This action, aimed at controlling access points, will be partially funded through a subsidy to be requested from the Generalitat de Catalunya.
All involved parties agreed on the need for constant coordination to strengthen security. Furthermore, the importance of immediately contacting the emergency telephone number 112 in the event of any suspicious activity was emphasized, to facilitate a rapid response by law enforcement agencies.
