The Montblanc City Council has initiated procedures for the construction of a new bus station in Plaça del Blat, aiming to modernize public transport infrastructure and optimize mobility in the capital of Conca de Barberà.

This project addresses the need to replace the current stop, deemed insufficient for a town of its importance. The proposal, which has been under development since the beginning of the legislative term, has already been presented to the Generalitat de Catalunya, which has positively assessed its relevance.

"Montblanc does not deserve a bus stop, but a proper station."

Oriol Pallissó · Second Deputy Mayor
The second deputy mayor, Oriol Pallissó, has advocated for the urgency of this infrastructure, expressing confidence that the proposed location will soon be validated to proceed with budgeting, although the project is still in an initial phase.
The planned location for the new station is in Plaça del Blat, near Mercadona and opposite Vallclara street. This area, spanning over 2,000 square meters, will include three platforms to accommodate various bus lines and ensure future mobility in the area.
One of the key benefits of the new station will be the reduction of heavy traffic in the urban core. Pallissó emphasized that the location will allow for efficient connection with the future development of the A-27 highway, facilitating quick links to Tarragona without having to cross the city center. He added that mobility improvements would be significant even before the completion of the A-27.
To realize the project, a modification of the Municipal General Urban Plan will be necessary. The council has held meetings with the Department of Territory to address this issue, reaffirming its commitment to improving transport infrastructure in the region.
