Artist and professor Domènec Corbella has published his new book, Pintura: ànima i pensament (Painting: Soul and Thought), a work gathering forty articles that explore the depth of the creative process and the relationship between art, emotion, and reason.

This volume, which dialogues with his previous work Des del cor de la pintura (From the Heart of Painting), compiles texts published in various digital magazines and previously unreleased pieces, offering a comprehensive view of the author's thought. The aim is to interrelate these writings to give them new life and make them accessible to a wider audience.
The book is structured into four distinct sections. The first two focus on painting: 'Painting from the Outside' analyzes the work of contemporary Chinese artists, while 'Painting from Within' is an aesthetic self-assessment of Corbella's own pictorial creation. The third block includes academic studies presented at conferences, and the last addresses heritage topics from Vallfogona de Riucorb and its spa, with previously unknown content.

"Painting without a soul is dead, and painting without thought is banal."

Domènec Corbella · Author of 'Painting: Soul and Thought'
Corbella emphasizes the importance of the soul as the emotional and spiritual contribution of the artist, and thought as a constant element that evolves with the creative process. For him, painting is a sensory and cognitive experience that goes beyond the visual, and writing becomes an essential tool for organizing ideas around pictorial creativity.
The artist also highlights the influence of the Vall del Corb on his artistic perspective, a territory that has driven historical research and served as a source of pictorial motivation. Furthermore, he values art as a tool to preserve the memory and identity of a territory, citing examples such as Leonardo da Vinci with Tuscany or Salvador Dalí with the Alt Empordà.
The book was made possible thanks to the publishing efforts of Cossetània Edicions and the Associació Cultural Baixa Segarra, from Santa Coloma de Queralt.
