The latest RACC report on accident rates in Catalonia (2022-2024) revealed that motorcycle accidents are concentrated on high-traffic roads in the Barcelona Metropolitan Region, with the C-31 identified as the most critical stretch.

The document, which analyzes over six thousand kilometers of interurban roads, highlights the critical disproportion of accident rates involving motorcycles and mopeds. Despite representing only 3.2% of total mobility, these vehicles are involved in half of all accidents and eight out of ten incidents resulting in fatalities or serious injuries.
Regarding overall figures, 2,016 motorcycle and moped accidents were registered during 2024. According to the RACC, despite a slight reduction compared to the previous year, the general trend in accident rates is upward, although it remains below the levels recorded before the pandemic.
Half of the serious and fatal accidents are concentrated in only 13% of the analyzed network (826 km). Eight of the ten stretches with the highest accident rates are located in the Barcelona Metropolitan Region. The most dangerous stretch is the C-31 between El Prat and L'Hospitalet, followed by the A-2 (between the ring roads and the AP-2), the C-32 (between Esplugues and Sitges), the C-58 (between Barcelona and Cerdanyola), the Ronda Litoral, and the B-30.
The study, which uses the methodology of the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) organization, also indicates a slight 5% increase in the general risk index on Catalan roads during the 2022-2024 triennium, in line with the global increase in mobility. The report is carried out in collaboration with the Servei Català de Trànsit, the Departament de Territori, and the Diputació de Barcelona.
