The Welcome Autumn 2026 in Canyelles fills the month of October with a diverse offering spanning art, literature, music, sports, and gastronomy. Highlights include the II Garraf Historical Novel Festival, the II Fantasy and Science Fiction Convention, the awards ceremony for the VII Castell de Canyelles Literary Competition, and the V edition of the Lletres a la Plaça event.
The gardens of the Castell de Canyelles will host children's and family activities with medieval games. The program also features the 17th Dixieland Tast, a gastronomic fair with live music, and the second edition of Veremart, where an artistic piece will be created while enjoying wine.
The offerings are rounded out with two theatre performances, the III Jordi Miralles Chess Memorial, the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Gegants de Canyelles, the Reutilitza Canyelles Second-hand Market, the Nit de Foc (Night of Fire), the Correfoc del Meteorit (Meteorite Fire Run), and the traditional Castanyada (Chestnut Festival) and Halloween.
The inaugural weekend, October 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, will focus on literature and gastronomy with events such as Canyelles Mil·lenària, the Literary Competition, Lletres a la Plaça, and Refugi de l’Aventurer, alongside the Dixieland Tast-Veremart.
This literary weekend will take place at the Castell de Canyelles, Espai Romanguer, the Gardens of the Castle, and the Casal Hall, featuring round tables with historians and novelists, a book fair with thirteen stalls, children's activities in the gardens with medieval games, and a program dedicated to fantasy and genre literature.
Friday will see the inauguration of Canyelles Mil·lenària and the awards ceremony for the VII Castell de Canyelles Literary Competition. Sunday will conclude with the presentation of the Portal del Refugi de l’Aventurer Award and the unveiling of the sculpture of the Gegant de Canyelles in the Castle gardens.
The Award for Career Achievement in Historical Novel at the Canyelles Mil·lenària Festival will recognize John Carlin, who will receive the award on Saturday evening.
The program continues with theatre performances on October 11th and 17th at the Sala Multicultural, featuring the plays «El pobre viudo» and «La Doctora del sexe i l’amor».
October 17th also includes the Commemoration of Stillbirths at the Municipal Cemetery, the inauguration of an exhibition by artist Marc Delgado at the Espai Romanguer, followed by a Cineforum with a trans theme, and the Correfoc del Meteorit in the old town.
Other activities include the Fogó de l’Amistat (Friendship Fireplace) on September 25th, October 23rd, and November 20th at the Espai Romanguer, Castanyada and Halloween at the Castell de Canyelles from October 23rd to 31st, featuring the Terror Tunnel and the children's 'Trick or Treat' event.
