A man has died by drowning in Olivella, in the Garraf region, after his vehicle was swept away by floodwaters last night.

The Generalitat Firefighters have located the lifeless body of the driver of a car that was swept away by the force of water from a stream in Olivella. The incident occurred last night when the driver was caught by the rising water levels near a bridge.
According to confirmation from the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan Police), the body was found around 2:25 AM in a bushy area, approximately 500 meters from where the vehicle was located. The area was accessible, facilitating the recovery of the body, which belonged to the car's driver.

An eyewitness alerted emergency services at 11:02 PM after seeing the vehicle fall into the water. A special rescue operation was launched involving 11 units from the Firefighters, including drones and specialized agents from the Special Actions Group for aquatic and underwater activities.
Residents in several regions, including Garraf, received an Es-Alert from Civil Protection warning of the danger of torrential rain and sudden floods until the early morning. The message urged extreme caution.
The storm, accompanied by intense electrical activity and heavy rainfall, affected Catalonia last night, leading to this tragic outcome in Olivella.
