The Sant Bartomeu 'Matinal', initially scheduled for 6 am, started at 7:15 am due to disturbances that occurred during the night. The Sitges Town Council has condemned the violent behavior and incidents that took place after the festival concert at Passeig de la Ribera and the closure of nightclubs, which caused serious public order issues and damage to public property.
As a result of the delay, the 'Matinal's' route had to be adapted. Nevertheless, the popular dances, 'faixes' dances, and horse-drawn carriages, which distributed flowers and carnations, were able to proceed.
Subsequently, the Mass in honor of Sant Bartomeu was held in the church, with the offering made by the Suburband. This musical group also accompanied the authorities to the 'Anada a Ofici' and participated in the 'Sortida d'Ofici', which concluded with the performance of the national anthem, Els Segadors.
In the afternoon, the Procession of Sant Bartomeu will commence at 7:30 pm from the Baluard. An emotional moment is anticipated with the 'Entrada de Sant Bartomeu' into the Parish Church and the final dances of the Dragon, the Eagle, and the three pairs of giants in the Town Hall square. The day will conclude with dancing at Passeig de la Ribera.
The organization has implemented prevention and safety measures, including the installation of public hydration fountains at various city points for participants and the general public. Additionally, access to the Baluard will be closed during the passage of the 'Bastons' for the 'Entrada de Sant Bartomeu' and Santa Tecla.
As a new feature, 'Calm Zones' ('Trams en calma') are being introduced during the Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla processions. These 120-meter sections will reduce music volume and eliminate firecracker sounds to facilitate participation for sensitive individuals. They will be marked with signs, pictograms, and informational leaflets.
