The Local Police of Vilanova i la Geltrú has deployed a surveillance drone this February 2026 to monitor the Arrivo and Comparses, improving safety during the city's massive Carnival celebrations.

For the first time, the Vilanova Carnival security plan includes aerial surveillance. The drone provides real-time images to the newly established Emergency Operational Coordination Center, allowing for faster responses during the busiest parades.
The coordination center, located at the Local Police headquarters, integrates several agencies including Mossos d'Esquadra, Firefighters, and Emergency Medical Services (SEM). This centralized system ensures a unified response to any incidents.
Security measures also include random breathalyzer and drug tests, alongside specific zones to prevent thefts. To ensure a safe environment, the city has set up Purple Points against gender-based violence and the Pausa't space for youth support.
