The day after the main Carnival event, dozens of workers spent the day removing tons of eco-candies. The priority is to clean the sticky pavements to prevent slips and odors in a city center that still has two more days of festive activities ahead.
This year, the cleaning staff is no longer part of the Companyia Municipal d'Aigües, though the operational methods remain unchanged. Work began on Sunday afternoon and has been organized by sectors across the Garraf capital.
While the weather generally aided the first day of cleaning, strong winds proved to be the main challenge for the crews. Local authorities have asked citizens for patience, noting that fully cleaning the sugar residue and restoring order takes time.
