Civil Protection of the Generalitat and the Garraf Nautical Club organized a drill at Port del Garraf to test the Self-Protection Plan for a boat fire, fuel spill, and two smoke-affected individuals, exacerbated by a storm and a fallen tree blocking access.

The exercise simulated a fire on a boat moored at the Ponent dock during a severe storm, causing a fuel spill. The wind posed a risk of fire spreading to nearby vessels, while two people on another boat were affected by smoke.
Access was further complicated by a tree falling and blocking the main road to the port, forcing intervention teams to find alternative routes. The drill tested the activation of the Port del Garraf's Self-Protection Plan (PAU), homologated in 2026, in emergency phase 1, and coordination with the civil protection plans of the Generalitat and Sitges City Council.
Civil Protection of the Generalitat issued a pre-alert for the special plan for marine water pollution (CAMCAT), and Sitges' Municipal Action Plan was activated in alert phase. Firefighters tackled the boat fire, rescued individuals, and protected the port's gas station while deploying containment barriers for fuels.
The Metropolitan South Emergency Region deployed four ground vehicles and about ten personnel, including a jet ski for aquatic rescues. Sitges City Council participated with a Civil Protection technician for municipal coordination. The Mossos d’Esquadra and Sitges Local Police managed access control and mobility.
The Medical Emergency System (SEM) treated the two smoke-affected individuals, activating several units and a Basic Life Support ambulance with 4 professionals. The Penedès Civil Protection Territorial Services also participated with their chief and technicians.
