Active Civil War shell destroyed after discovery during construction in l'Albagés

The Mossos d'Esquadra police force successfully neutralized an active Civil War artillery shell discovered last Thursday in l'Albagés, located in the Garrigues region, during irrigation infrastructure works.

Workers at the Segarra-Garrigues canal found the 105mm projectile while digging. Specialized TEDAX units confirmed the explosive charge was still active and moved the device to a secure location for controlled destruction.
Authorities remind the public to immediately call 112 and avoid touching any suspicious metallic objects found in rural areas, as these historical artifacts remain highly dangerous.
