The company Farré Vidal harvested last Friday in Bovera (Les Garrigues) a black truffle weighing 616 grams, making it the heaviest specimen ever obtained by the farm.

The finding occurred on the farms owned by the company Farré Vidal in the municipality of Bovera, an operation with over 30 years of experience in the black truffle sector. This specimen significantly exceeds the company's previous record, which was around 300 grams.

"It is not common, but when a truffle like this appears, the interest is immediate."

Manel Farré · Head of the family project
According to Manel Farré, head of the project, the truffle was sold quickly due to the high demand for large pieces. This weight of 616 grams even surpasses another exceptional specimen of 614 grams found last December in Iruecha (Guadalajara).
The current season has been favorable thanks to more abundant rainfall than the previous year, despite heat waves. These conditions have allowed for the good development of this fungus, which is very sensitive to excess temperature. Black truffle prices currently range between 200 and 400 euros per kilogram, depending on daily production and demand.
