One of the most notable pieces of news from early 2025 has been the official confirmation of the LV-7031 road improvement, which connects Cervià with Les Borges Blanques. This action, promoted by the Diputació de Lleida, was a historical demand to ensure a safer and more efficient road network in the Garrigues region.
In the social sphere, the council has launched an ambitious agenda to commemorate March 8, International Women's Day. This program will run for three months, offering various activities focused on promoting effective equality and the fight against gender inequalities.
In addition to infrastructure improvements and the social agenda, local activity has been marked by sporting and economic events. In January, the 22nd Cursa de l'Oli (Oil Race) gathered over 500 participants, consolidating its status as a key event. Simultaneously, the town remains a nerve center for the agri-food sector, hosting a pioneering forum on the future of olive oil in October and being the scene of tensions between Unió de Pagesos and the Borges Group over agreements with pistachio producers.
Finally, the Les Borges Blanques City Council has also promoted urban planning and electrical grid changes since late 2024, seeking to improve the urban environment and the quality of life for residents. These actions complement the cultural agenda, which included the thirteenth Marxa de Torxes (Torch March) for the Diada de Catalunya in September and the exhibition «ORGULLosa de mi» in July.
