A group of six families attempted to re-occupy an apartment block on Santiago Rusiñol street in les Borges Blanques this Friday, following the rejection of their relocation requests.

The incident took place at noon when former residents entered the property, which has been vacant since December. This action followed a decision by the Generalitat Housing Department to deny their social housing applications.

"If they knew from the beginning that we were squatters and that was a reason not to give us housing, why did they make us fill out forms?"

Municipal sources stated that the requests were denied because the applicants lacked valid rental contracts before the les Borges Blanques City Council declared the building uninhabitable due to health risks.
Mossos d'Esquadra officers arrived at the scene after being alerted by the property owner. The families eventually agreed to leave the premises voluntarily.
