The town of Juneda was the setting for the opening of the Pla de Juneda Festival, an event dedicated to rural cinema that this year celebrates its fourth edition. The inaugural act was dedicated to the figure of actor Anthony Quinn, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of his death, which will be in June.
Attendees had the opportunity to enjoy the screening of the war comedy The Secret of Santa Vittoria, one of Quinn's notable works. Furthermore, the evening featured the presence of Christopher, the actor's grandson and son of sculptor Lorenzo Quinn, who expressed his gratitude for this recognition of his grandfather.
“"Although my grandfather was a Hollywood legend, cinematic memory fades after so many years."
The inaugural day, which took place at the Teatre Foment, concluded with a wine tasting, a detail that connected with the film's setting, which takes place in an Italian wine village during World War II.
The festival director, Joan López Alonso, expressed his enthusiasm for this edition, highlighting the growth of the event. According to his words, a "step forward" has been made with a more extensive program, a greater number of films and short films, more guests, and a larger budget.
Until Sunday, the festival will offer more than fifteen films, distributed among the official sections for feature films and short films. The program also includes a family session with short films from the Animac de Lleida festival and special screenings of films such as Frontera, with the presence of director Judith Colell, and Estrany riu, which will feature director Jaume Claret and one of the actors.
