The animal welfare organization ARDE Global publicly denounced the conditions of a quail farm in Juneda, owned by Urgasa, which responded by announcing legal action to defend its reputation.

The organization ARDE Global published its investigation, carried out in late October 2025, concerning a quail farm in Juneda, located in the Garrigues region. The organization, which released a documentary, claims to have documented “serious sanitary irregularities and possible crimes of mistreatment and fraud” at a farm that, paradoxically, holds an animal welfare certification.
The images released show birds in a state of decomposition coexisting with others in cages, as well as a large amount of excrement and filth throughout the facilities. According to ARDE, this situation “directly contrasts with the image of sustainability and welfare conveyed to consumers”.

"We have initiated, together with our legal services, a procedure to preserve the veracity of the facts, defend our rights, and the reputation of the people who are part of the company."

Urgasa · Company
Urgasa refuted the validity of the evidence presented, stating that the images are “short shots, edited, and without continuity,” and that some of the animal welfare organization's claims are untrue. The company emphasizes that its eggs undergo exhaustive quality control and that the center is audited and certified according to the IFS standard for food safety and traceability.

"We cannot afford the luxury of entering a farm and taking photos given the current sanitary situation."
