Cassà de la Selva has ranked fourth in Catalonia for its selective waste collection rate among municipalities with over 10,000 inhabitants, according to data from the Catalan Waste Agency for 2025. This achievement comes in the first full year of operation for the door-to-door collection system.

During 2025, the municipality achieved an 85.32% gross selective collection rate, including rubble. This figure places it 57th among 947 Catalan municipalities and within the top 6% for this indicator. The data is significantly higher than the territorial averages: 65.90% in Gironès, 55.33% in the Girona province, and 48.1% for Catalonia as a whole.
The mayor of Cassà de la Selva, Pau Presas, attributed this success to "the civic involvement and commitment of the vast majority of Cassà's residents dedicated to having a cleaner and more pleasant town".
Despite the positive results, the City Council notes that they could be improved by minimizing illegal dumping, an uncivil practice that is pursued and sanctioned. Citizen collaboration is key to continuing to enhance results and preserve a pleasant environment.
