The author, known for his extensive literary production, recently presented his new work, L'amor de l'Eli, aimed at a young adult audience. This novel, which has already been presented at the Figueres library, tells the story of two young people, Arnau and Eli, and their summer romance.
The plot of L'amor de l'Eli focuses on the contrast between two perspectives on love. For Arnau, it represents his first, pure, and passionate infatuation. In contrast, for Eli, this summer love becomes an escape from a previously toxic relationship, seeking to enjoy a healthier youthful experience.
“"Love is not circumstantial; it is created, it is built day by day, but no one binds me to the other person, nor do I have any obligation."
The work is divided into three parts, with the second written in the first person from Eli's perspective, offering the reader an intimate view of her thoughts and experiences. This structure allows the audience to understand the character's fragility and the complexity of her emotions.
The novel's setting, Sant Salvador, is a familiar place for the author, who has placed the story in a contemporary context, reflecting the reality of today's youth, including the constant presence of mobile phones. These devices play an important role in the plot, revealing aspects of Eli's previous relationship.
The author has also reflected on the situation of young adult literature, highlighting the price difference compared to adult literature and the problem of book purchases in schools, which often prevents young people from developing a personal library.
