Canadian actress Catherine O’Hara, globally renowned for her role in Home Alone, died this Friday at the age of 71, as confirmed by her representative to Variety.

The performer, who began her professional career in television in the mid-70s, is best remembered for playing Kate McCallister, Kevin's mother in the popular Christmas film Home Alone, as well as for her participation in movies like Beetlejuice.
More recently, O’Hara had received a Golden Globe nomination for her appearance in the series The Studio. She also had a prominent role in the post-apocalyptic series The Last of Us.
Nevertheless, one of her most acclaimed roles was that of Moira Rose, the extravagant matriarch in the comedy Schitt’s Creek. For this performance, the actress was awarded an Emmy in 2020 and, a year later, a Golden Globe.
